painting over a cracked

hi
iam looking advice on painting my ceiling that has a crack, is there any prep work i should do first is there a better paint i or roller i should be using ? its all new to me so thats why so many questions.

Before you paint the ceiling, scrim tape over the crack, then skim it over with a couple of coats of ready mix joint finish. When it's dried out,,, (next day), paint the whole ceiling with a couple of coats of emulsion.

Or squirt a bit of caulk into it - this will allow a bit of flexibility too.

Depends on the size of the crack really
