Hi I have a query about painting over painted kitchen cabinet cupboards.

I have got 2x wood cabinet doors from DIY kitchens that are the wrong colour and need painting.

They are new so no residue and clean with paint on.

My initial plan

Was to sand and prime with zinser BIN first. Then apply some oil based paint from Johnstons as attachment.

Have since read as they are clean and painted that zinser primer may not be needed and I can apply oil based paint on directly after slightly sanding the initial surface.

Would be great to clarify thanks.

Sand with 120 grit wet and dry and test paint, you might not need zinser

I'd spray them, personally. If you don't have a sprayer perhaps local car repair place will do it. Way back when ordered my first diy kitchens kitchen I initially got some samples of the doors and sprayed them (I can't remember why, maybe the colour wanted wasn't available in the finish wanted) and there was some small reaction between the two paints that caused a surface bubbling.. Test on a small patch (or maybe order a sample you can ruin) first

Perhaps even DIYK themselves will respray the doors for you; they've always been very good and obliging in my experience
