Painting terminology

Over the years and doing a few jobs with diffenrt guys in parts of the UK ive noticed different areas have unusual terms for certain things..

Heres some common ones ive grown up with..

Tosher...Pinter/rough painter

Lid....Ceiling

Molly..Emulsion

Scratch...abrasive paper

Coddy...Foreman

Sticker..Paper hanger

Do more...White spirit or turbs subs

Joe Loss...gloss

Unders...undercoat

Pi*s it out..thin the paint down to a workable consistency! :rolleyes:

Pickle....sugar soap and water

Tickle...A light rub down

Pine end..(wales)...Gable end

Troughings (wales)...Gutters

Ally...Aluminium primer

Im sure there loads ive forgotten...

Anymore for anymore?

elsy tanner - one coat....................nearly dry filler that may take a rub down - rub downable....................mully - emulsion...................gloss - joe toss...................undercoat - undy................eggshell - shelly...............two coats - double dunter.......................overalls - ovies.......................Though people from edinburgh call there cielin, a roof, and there roof a cieling !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Ace it....apply only one coat..come on we've all done it!
