Painting window reveals

I've painted the (outer) stair wall a deep raspberry. It's an old cottage with thick stone walls and the window reveal is about a foot deep. At the moment I've left the window reveal as cream (which is the colour of adjacent/opposite walls) but I'm thinking it would look better, albeit darker, if I continued the raspberry into the reveals.
Is that what would normally be done anyway?

Absolutely. It would look really odd otherwise.

There will be enough contrast with the window frame colour - you don't need another shade as well - plus curtains/blinds. Keep it simple and coherent.
