Hi guys,
I just had my living room skimmed and the builders used plasterboards.
On one of the walls, we had a chimney breast removed, so that particular area was just bare bricks. Because the builders found it difficult to keep the plasterboards stuck on with adhesive on that particular bit, they put a cement-based mixture over it, then applied the adhesive and stuck the plasterboards on. They then skimmed it and that was that.
As the plaster was drying, I noticed a patch that was a different colour to the the rest of the wall. I let the whole wall dry for around 10 days and this patch was dry but it kept on looking like it was still wet.
Because it seemed dry, I decided to seal the plaster with PVA+water solution, prior to giving it an undercoat and main coat. Now, I've painted that wall twice with a white undercoat (and that patch around 5 times!) but that patch is still slightly darker than the rest of the wall and is slightly shiny.
I dont know what it is and the impression I'm getting is that no matter how many times I keep painting over it, it will remain. Any ideas as to what it may be??
I didnt sand down the patch, if that might be the cause? And it now has a couple of green dots appearing on it too. I'll try and put up a photo tomorrow morning but if anyones got any ideas, please help.
Thanks
Steve
PS: Just seen this post //www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=41286 Do you think it could be linked? However, in this post, I think plaster was applied straight over the walls whereas I have had plasterboards put on top.
