Hi Gents,

Just after a little advice regarding the restoration of our existing patio.

I've order some sodium hypo to clean it up as post a jet wash, its got a lot of the typical black spots. My question is is that the previous person had started to remove the grout between tiles (to obviously re-do) however didnt finish. In some parts this is really bad/flaky so i agree needs doing, however some areas it doesnt and is solid. Would you still remove this and re-do as a whole patio, or only patch up in the parts that need doing? Will this look bad if so and what do you reckon?

Some slabs are wobbly so I guess it'll be a case of securing this, then grouting, however I was just wondering - would you do all of this and then clean using the sodium hypo, or clean first then grout last? Thanks again!

Just doing exactly the same on my patio. Not as much black spot but I was undecided on removing all the grout or not. I had one or two patched areas so bit the bullet and removed it all. Some of it came out really easy so would have failed within a year or two.

I shall start to replace the pointing tomorrow if the weather is conducive.

Yes I cleaned all of mine, then ground out the pointing, vacuumed/swept up the dust and then hosed off. Left it to dry for two days.
