I laid a patio towards the end of last summer and some of the slabs have started to crumble and crack around the edges. I'm guessing frost may have got in? Could this be true? I didn't fill between the gaps. Would filling in with sand/cement stop any further cracking etc? Thanks for looking.

What kind of slabs were they? Sound pretty cheap and nasty if they have spalled after such a short period, even though it was (is!) a harsh winter. I don't think pointing would have made much difference and isn't likely to repair the damage either.

Can you post some pics?

Sounds like cheap flags that when been made they havn't been vibrated that gets rid of the air bubbles.
