I layed a patio last summer, all looked ok until the frost got in to it.
The pointing as all cracked and is lifting out.
I used a 3 building sand to 1 cement moist mix, as is often recommended on here.

Should I have added anything else, such as frostproofer?
The slabs are fine, I laid them on a 4=1 sharp sand and cement wet mix and they are not moving at all.

Any advice welcome, I know it all needs to come out, but dont want the new stuff to go the same way.

Thanks

Stu

Hi Thermo

It is on about 2 ft of mot and then a 4 to 1 sharp sand and cement wet mix.
The slabs are solid, no movement at all, just the pointing i am worried about.

Cheers

sory missed that bit!

sounds like it may have dried out too quick in the sun when it was done in the summer, always a risk. SHould be fine to redo it now. Can be handy to lay a tarpaulin over the top of it on a sunny day to stop it drying out to quick, after youve given a very light spray with the hose
