philmac and 25mm mdpe with no inserts

is it ok to fit blue MDPE pipe 25mm to philmac fittings without the pipe liner .
I fitted it at home, buried it 3ft under and then was told I should have used a liner .There were no leaks at the time but is it a dig-up-again job ??

Anyone experienced leaks due to it

You need a liner, they're not made for fun.
