Picking up live feed in loft

I had a plumber come to change some pipe work and he advised that the heating pipe work in the loft is picking up electrical feed, it’s all on the beams, cold water tank etc.

he was checking with a pen like tool that glowed red, he didn’t seem to concerned but it’s got me concerned,

any ideas what this could be ?

If your worried ,call an electrician to check it out. Best to be sure there is no problem.The instrument that he used , What you described , sounds like a non contact voltage sensor . Not the most accurate ,or reliable things to be frank.
