Pipe banging

My hot water pipe bangs away great style after it has been turned off...if I were to add a valve to the hot water to reduce the flow would this stop the banging if not waht can I do...?

Usually a result of loose pipes or nasty taps. Do a search on Shock Arrestor - in a recent thread.
