I need to insulate the central heating pipes in the loft before winter, however, they are all run very close together, about 20mm separating them, the problem I have is that there is not enough clearance to fit the foam lagging over them, and felt doesn't seem very effiencant. is there any other product that can be used???

A bit of clever cutting of the length of the insulation would do it.

Another way is to lay rockwool loft insulation over the pipes.

Felt lagging is better than no lagging so dont rule it out altogether.

you can get two grades of pipe insulation

In an unheated loft you ought to use the thick one

but where your pipes are tight you could use the thin one, and lay fibreglass quilt over the top.

The fibreglass with a plastic sleeve is cleaner to use

I would use the foam pipe insulation underneath it in case of draughts or thin spots.

Use the thick foam pipe insulation everywhere you can. A bit of felt round the joints is useful as these sometimes open up over time.

You can get 9mm lagging from plumb centre /focus etc .Then cover with rock wool to be safe
