PIR insulation with an air gap or not

I have a 1930s house with wall with 10mm cavities, if I want to use PIR on the inside to insulate do I need to batten first or use a vapour barrier or can I put the PIR directly on to the wall?

Straight on the wall and foil tape all the joins
