Planning permission for wood burning stove or DIY

Watch the backdraft movie.
You can make a stove smolder and produce smoke and gasses with no flame. And then when there is a touch of air (and hence oxygen) it all combusts suddenly producing and exciting whoomth and a jet of flame up the chimney and out of the vent holes.
Hence keeping flammable objects away just in case.

It appears to be because of the magic word "wood".
Coke boilers were stoked up last thing at night and the damper closed, and they burned all night.
We didn't have a night watchman when I was young. :)
