plaster or joint compound

I've taken down kitchen units and ive renewed a section of plaster 80cm x 90 cm board that was tiled. Ive put new piece up and used sticky fibretape and gyproc easifill to fill the gap in plastetboard.

This bit is going to be seen and I can see the tape, am I better using joining compound or finishing plaster to get it smooth to paint and put cooker hood up on it

Not really sure what you've done there but your best chance of filling over it and sanding flat-ish is something like easifil or a general boxed powder filler
