Hello all, having new bathroom and was originally going to tile floor to ceiling but due to a re think am now having it skimmed and just tiling splashbacks. My question is, where I have recessed into the wall for some pipework, shower and rad, can I fill over the top ready for skim and if so which type of filler? Or should I cap over the chases then skim, to allow for any movement from expansion without cracking plaster?

cheers

Glad to hear that you're not tiling floor to ceiling (Yuk! 1980s or what).

Ideally cap over it for reasons that you've said and you'll also lose the problem of chemical attack of the plaster/render on the copper.
