Yes ........ as long as its for water
But why not use a polyplumb coupler/bend and go into that .. alot safer
is because I am going in to a 22mm stop tap the rest of the house is in polyplumb what do you mean alot safer is polyplumb in to compression not the best?

I had assumed that your a DIYer so feel that it would be safer/easier for you to do it that way ........ Why did you not post the bit about what your doing (22mm stop cock) to start with ....... would make answering a little bit easier
