Hi all,

I have a problem with my boiler. When i turn the thermostat on to its normal temp - the boiler fires up as normal, the pilot light comes on then its switches off after 10 seconds. There also seems be a noise similar to a kettle boiling coming from the boiler! The radiators in the flat are turned up to the max!

The hot water is working fine!

Can anyone offer advise as to what maybe the problem? Should i turn off all the radiators and then turn them on one by one.
Many thanks
Paul.

Sounds like a blockage or air lock....the boiler is firing, getting to temp and then switching off. If your hot water is working fine it isn't your pump........check your return pipe filter to see if it's blocked.

many thanks for you reply.

What and where would the return pipe filter be?

Heating flow (out of boiler) return (in)......underneath on right hand side.....usually have a blue iso valve on it. Turn both off and then drain the water in the boiler (prv valve) and undo the unions and take out the filter and clean it......if it's bably blocked then the system might be sludged up and need power flushing

Dont touch the blue and red taps on the CH pipes!

They always leak afterwards!

Tony
