Potterton Lynx will not heat water but Central Heating Ok

Cant remember if its a flow switch or divertor valve operated switch but i think that will be your problem.
Firstly this boiler is between 15 and 21 years old 
What if any lights come on?
Have you tried resetting (power off for 30seconds)
If it's just the domestic hot water thermistor or flow switch it may be viable
But it's more likely to be a sticking diverter, this can be checked, normal dhw sequence should bring on the demand light
Everything leaks when you put it back together!
Better to invest your money in a new boiler

The demand light does not come on during normal operation of the DHW, however, if I turn the tap on full the demand light does come on and the boiler does ignite. The problem with this is that I think the flow of the water is too fast for the water to get hot!
