potterton overheat steam

hello quick question...

potterton boiler, is expanding into the f&e tank when heating is on very warm, producing steam in loftspace.

Is the boiler stat cutting on and off / is it making any banging noises

banging noises yes, its the the boiler stat is cuttin off but overheating

Sounds like the boiler stat has gone and instead of cutting off at correct temp its getting far too hot,

any difference in radiator temperature if you turn the boiler control way down, 1-2 out of 6?
