Hello,
Can anyone help with this problem.
i have a potterton puma 80e that is playing up. Everytime I turn the power on it trips a fuse in the house fusebox.
I have checked the wiring and looked inside the boiler and everything seems to be ok.
Can anyone help pinpoint what might be causing this problem.
All answers would be appreciated.

I would also post this question in the Electrical Forum. Sounds like a dead short thats blowing the house fuse as the boiler protection fuse is still o/k

Start with the pump, disconnect the 3 wire flying lead at the connector.

Straight short from top left of main pcb , check for burning , every other puma has or will have this fault. If all heating controls, timeclock etc are off and fuse still blows check this as it isnt calling for anything its just the power supply to the main pcb shorting to earth. Check for melted plugs and blackening behind the board......... good luck :D

You say its "tripping a fuse"!

Now is it tripping an RCD or is it tripping an MCB ???

I suspect the former! That would indicate a different fault to the latter!

And whats the value of the fuse in the switched spur feeding the boiler?

Tony
