I have a Potterton Puma which is about 10 years old. Recently whenever I use the hot taps, it screeches, bangs and dies - the lockout light comes on afterwards. Lately, each time this happens it lets out steam from the top and a couple days ago it started leaking from below so I switched it off at the mains. All this was preceded by my having hot water but no CH. I have just spent £100 on a new pump (but still have the same problem) and £200 in plumber's fees. Can this be mended or am I looking at a new boiler and if so, what would be the best one? I have a 1 bed but spacious flat, 4 rads. Any help / good advice appreciated. Not to mention the number of a RELIABLE heating engineer.
