pre cast flue fire

My parents want replacement gas fire
Its a pre cast flue, builders opening 565x415 and size off pcf letter box opening 200x70
The local fire showroom sent someone and he said its not possible to fit as regs have changed?
Opening to small??? & termination not correct.
Termination is ridge tile terminal
What's changed? I used to fit them all day long when I did the gas.
Old fire had signs of sooting but I didn't see if restricter had been removed, or whether coals were positioned wrong?

Not allowed letterbox opening any more

Is the ridge tile designed for natural gas or the old towns gas?

Sorry,I shouldn't of stated letter box as I was revering to the size of the opening size of the pre cast flue, and not a letter box opening on front of builders opening.

The house was never on town gas.its a 33 year old Wimpy home made out of cardboard

Can anyone give me any info.
