Recently my boiler started flashing it fault indicator light meaning that there is an appliance fault. I turned off the power to the boiler for 10 mins and when I turned the boiler back on it worked fine for a period before the indicator light comes back on. When turned back on it can work for 10 mins of 10 hours before the error light comes on and there is no connection between heating and hot water to reproduce the fault. Does anyone know what could be wrong with the boiler and is it something I could fix.

That is a very simple boiler which does not indicate what the actual fault is and only shows that there is a fault so it can be very difficult to identify. That becomes more so when its an intermittent fault.

I suppose you have not bothered to have the boiler serviced regularly?

Without knowing what the fault is then I cannot say its its likely to be something which can be a DIY repair.

I appreciate that some people think that plumbers are thick and left school at 16 with three GCSEs ( if they were lucky ) and therefore repairing boilers must be very simple. Some faults are simple but others are not and diagnosing the problem requires considerable skill.
