No hot water as Low pressure caused lockout. Ive topped pressure which i have to do about once or twice a year. ( had several plumbers look for leak with no luck). Pushed reset button and pump started with a weird rattle. The photo cell was hanging out a little and so went push it back in and tripped mains electric. I flipped the fuse and tried again this time i even saw the spark as it tripped even though the boiler was turned off at plug?

We have oil, so i guess problem is either photocell or ignition but not sure why shorting mains who how to trouble shoot from here. Any ideas.

Maybe best to find an OFTEC engineer to trace and repair your boiler fault.

Guessing might be more expensive!

The Heatslave is generally a robust and fairly foolproof boiler.
Which one is it?
If the pump is rattling then it's either knackered or the coupling between the motor and the pump is worn.
The photocell has two wires going to it and if the wires are frayed somehow then this could cause a fuse problem, but that's most unusual.
For the water leak, take the top off the boiler casing and check the brass bleed vent for leaks....it has a plastic car tyre valve cap on the top.
John :)
