Problems re-roofing garage, brickwork is now loose!

Last weekend we took the old roof off the garage, with the intention of having it done the same weekend.

But the existing joists were built into the brickwork and the top 2/3 courses have now come loose.

We have temporarily removed the loose brickwork but are now wondering is best and easiest to do to resolve the problem.

We could re brick them in but then I would have to wait for it to dry before finishing the job.

Or we could just put a timber wall plate in and get the slope from some furrings.

I was just worried about how long it would take the mortar to dry as all it seems to be doing here currently is raining.

Can you not replace the roof and then re-bed the brickwork in afterwards?

what sort of roof are you talking about? do you have a photo?
