Big issues can be had with basements regarding damp, water ingress etc. Can be expensive to get to a desirable standard.....
Yes as above, unless you have really good history/evidence of what's been done you probably need to budget for a really good system update. So the house has a basement? Have you checked what parts of the building are in the listing?
