Hi just been doing some rendering today before i got rained off. The bricks we were rendering to were of really high suction!! i hosed them down for ages but the mix was drying out on the wall virtually straight away.

We decided to cover the wall in SBR mixed with cement, but we ran out and went to the shop but they had none left!!

So we brought a big tub of PVA we are going to create a slurry with it to spread on the wall.

Would it be best to mix the PVA with sand or cement ? Or both ?

We are going to spread it and lay the scratch coat on top of it once its dry (hopfully within half an hour)

But like i say what is best to mix the PVA with ?

Thanks again for the help

From what I understand, you shouldn't use pva externally.

correct! use external version of PVA, standard PVA will re-emulsify when wet so you can imagine what kind of problems that can cause when it's bonding your coats of render together
