hello all,

My quarter turn bristan bath cold water tap handle turns more than the quarter turn. So have to turn it both ways to turn the water off. Any ideas on how to repair it / replacement parts?

Thank you.

You'll need to know the model in order to get replacement parts. Bristan is a make, and they have a vast range

Thanks muggles, I am sure that I can find the model, but what is the problem with the tap do you think? It seems like someone has turned it in the wrong direction in the past and now moves more than one quarter of a turn?

Thanks for anyone's thoughts on this?

Either the cartridge has been forced past it's end stop or the splines on the cartridge pillar/grooves on the lever have started to strip

Thanks newboy, the handle splines are ok. So it must be the cartridge stop end problem. Does that mean I need a new cartridge?

If they're 1/4 turn ceramic cartridges and they turn more than that now then yup, a new one will be needed. They're usually non serviceable.
