Recently, the radiator in our main bedroom has stated making really, really loud groaning noises. The noises last about 30 seconds and they resemble the sound of a drill going through some masonry brick. It only happens on the one radiator; this being in the room in which the boiler / airing cupboard is in.

Any ideas / suggestions? Does it just need bleeding?

suprise suprise its either on the wrong end
or you don't have a big enough bypass
or it's gone to meet it's maker

change the valve is the short answer ;)

Cheers for that.

It's only recently that it's started making the noises. With that, does it mean that it needs replacing as it's never been noisy previously. Also, I recently turned the valve to "max" - would this have had an effect?
