Radiator in front of fireplace

Hi, we are currently refurbishing a 1930s bungalow we bought and was thinking of boarding up the fireplace and moving a radiator in front of it. Presumably we need to have a vent for the boarded up fireplace - is it okay to have the radiator directly in front of the vent?
