I'm planning to paint areas of the kitchen a very specific colour I have in mind, but this would include several radiators.

Is there a paint brand which is appropiate for radiators as well, or would it be a matter of looking at radiator paints and hoping to match it up?

Radiator paint normally comes in a wide choice of colours white.....or white!

You dont really need a specific paint though...just stick to oil based gloss, satin, or eggshell finishes

They can all normally be mixed to match wall colours.

Believe the words of the Master - Zampa - and hear a cautionary tale from my experience of " architectural radiator refurbisher ". Right, I took a normal new-ish panel rad to a blaster of architectural ironwork and column rads. No problem with the job or £ to remove the layers of badly applied paint. Holes ( tappings) all masked properly, no loose blast medium inside . all good - BUT what a load of B-Sh I was given in the office by the owner  Tried desperately to get me to have it coloured by them which would have doubled the £ -I`m sure the finsh would have been exellent as the rads on display proved. What I didn`t tell the fool, was that my Grandfather had been painting those column type rads when new ( with hand made lead paints) My Father had painted those and hundreds of others ( modern flat ones) and I`d installed hundreds myself in 30 years as a Plumber. Even dismantled and extended the column ones on 2 refurb jobs. Caveat flippin Emptor.

Lol...good story nige..

I wouild get those type (gate radiators) dipped if a customer really wanted them dne badly

Its a weird thing though..I was begged by a customer a few years ago to paint her brand new fctory finished rads not only to match the vinyl silk on the walls..BUT WITH THE ACTUAL VINYL SILK ON THE WALLS!!

Its really against the rules of decorating, and physics!!!....and I told her all the reasons why it shouldnt be done but she said that she didnt want to go buying loads of tins of oil based eggshell in different colours, and appreciated my concerns but if I didnt do them she would do them herself..

So...I did em..making sure she understand the 'no gaurentee' claus perfectly..lo and behold, they are still rock solid to this day

If I had done em in my own place they would have flaked within a week..sods law!!

i used PINK metal paint on ours and its worked a treat. got it in wickes. they had a huge range of colours (not just pink!)
