radiator sounds like miss-firing car!!

PLEASE HELP!!!!

I was woken up at 6.00am this morning to the sound of a car miss-firing.

It's coming from the radiator in the bathroom where the boiler is too (1st floor converted flat)

It seems to happen a few seconds after the combi boilder fires up and it lasts for about 2 - 3 mins and then settles. 10 mins later, when the boiler starts again it firing sound starts.

Theres about 5 - 15 bangs!!! during this 2 - 3 minute burst but that's enough to keep anyone awake. The bangs vary in intensity...some quiet and some really loud!!

All the radiator seems hot but I could try bleeding it. The other radiators are fine.

Has anyone had a problem like this before??...any advise please

If the noise comes from the boiler you need a heating engineer pronto. If it really comes from the rad (unlikely), check what happens if you close off the TRV if any.

Could you tell whether it was a four cylinder model or not?

If not try telling us the name on the bonnet.

Thanks for the reply's..appreciate that.
A plumber came round last night and diagnosed the fault at the valve section of the radiator (section near the heat level swivel knob)

He changed this and now it seems fine. Also, the flow was only one way and now he has put a 2 way flow on it...I'm not very fluent with the terms but hopw that means something to you.
