I have replaced a radiator with one which is 80mm shorter. I was sold 2 40mm adapters (15mm piping) but have had problems fitting them without leaking. Any advice? Also my heating & water works entirely on a combi boiler using mains water pressure with no tank. If I have to remove either the stop valve or thermostsat valve, do I need to drain any of my system and if so does this involve more than draining the radiator?

the joint between the rad extension and old valve needs boss white or PTFE tape, as does the threaded joint between the extension and the rad.

Which joint exactly is it leaking from?

Thanks for the reply. Leak is between the stopvalve and the extension piece. Have tried boss white and LOADS of PTFE tape. Should there be an "O" ring as well as an olive between the two?

try Oyster extendable rad valve tails 28-54mm, they inclue O rings, available from B&Q
