Should I line the inside walls of a wooden planter before filling with soil?

If so, what should I use?

Similar to above - wood preservative and then decking oil. Used black plastic pond liner sheets that I cut to size and stapled to the inside of the planter.

I've never lined them, and if the planters are for growing edibles, I wouldn't use any preservative.

I've used bubble wrap in past, no doubt it makes practically no measurable iinsulative difference but we often seem to have it lying about.
