hi all i need to raise the height of my bathroom floor which is concrete by about 35-40mm to meet the height of the hallway floor (also concrete) can i just add a new layer of concrete over the existing floor and if so do i need to do anything to the old floor or is there another way of doing this, not sure if it makes any difference but the floor will be tiled afterwards

35-40mm is borderline for a screed type make-up.

some screeds are notorious for lifting, even with decent thickness!

a granite based screed will be the best bet but be sure to wet the receiving floor's surface thoroughly.
