Hi all, we are purchasing a 1930s property which has a 10cm step down into the ktichen. There is also an external door. We'd like to raise the floor of the kitchen to match the rest of the ground floor, but we are concerned about how we will need to raise the door. If in the future we want to extend the property, would it be better the raise the floor at that point? i.e. if we raise the floor now, will the extension later be complicated by the work we've done? We will likely gets a tradesperson in to raise the floor. I am just trying to understand the best order of events at this time. Is raising a floor so much a very big job?

Thanks in advance!

Raising the floor means a new kitchen rads and sockets, which an extension would also involve, so maybe best to wait and plan the extension and floor together. You will get used to the step. If the existing floor is a suspended wooden floor, any pipes/ cables underneath would have to be re routed.
