Hello,

I was hoping someone here might be able to help me.

I would like to remove these pipes but not sure what they are.
With regards the ones up the wall, we have had various builders look at it and they have been unsure.
The last person followed them to a cupboard where he thinks they are capped.
They are not gas pipes. Had the gas board out to check.

Then there is another one following the floor. That one feels really solid, like metal.

Should add this is an old house (Edwardian) and when we moved in 7 years ago and took up the carpets there was 1940s newspapers underneath. So these may be very old. ...

What are they and can we take them out?

Thanks!
Jennie

What room are these pipes in?
Is it a downstairs room near the kitchen i.e. a scullery.
I'm wondering if it could be related to a vintage gas geyser installation, or similar.

Hello, they are in the kitchen. If they were gas pipes I presume they are dead now as the gas man didn't recognise them?!

definitely looks like gas internal pipework.
How did they check they were not live or dead gas pipes ?

Are you able to identify where the two pipes that disappear through the wall go to on the other side?

I was wondering if it was an old 'one pipe' heating system with an ad-hoc radiator connection to the next room. If so, and it's been removed there might be some indication that there was a radiator there at some point.

I don't know exactly what was said by the gas man as I was at work when he came round. I will find out, and yes, they go into the next room into a cupboard. At work at the moment will post a pic when I get back.
Never used this site before. Thanks for everyone's replies so far :)
