Hi everyone my name is Tony,

thanks to the input from the online experts here I have managed to trace a fault with my boiler (no DHW but radiators warming up when CH not on) to the diverter valve/diaphragm and have sent for a part which should be here next week.

My question is can I isolate the CH system with the stop valves on the pipework to the boiler thereby stopping the bypass of hot water to the CH system. to enable me to have hot water at the taps. Do I have to do anything else other than turn off the feed to the rads if this is possible

thanks

Tony

It may or may not work doing that.

Also the valves may leak if you turn them.

Your boiler will be about 17 years old and ripe for replacement!

Thanks for the quick response Tony

If I did decide to try it, and I had hot water, would it cause any damage? or can I isolate by demand ie when I want to shower or run off hot water for washing up etc after which re-opening the CH system, it would be till mid next week when I have received and fitted the part. Too true it is time for a new boiler...just trying to raise the courage and funds !!

thanks again

Tony
