RC Plus RF316 / 22560 Thermostat

Hi
My thermostat (above) is unresponsive in manual mode to increase the temp using the +/- buttons , currently at 7deg C
the thermostat is also unresponsive to override when in auto mode
however all buttons work around changing the user options
acan anyone assist ?

Also is there an override on a Valiant ecotec 831 plus in the meantime to get the boiler going ?
