Since July 08 new circuits have to be RCD protected if they are buried in a wall at a depth of less than 50mm and are not mechanically protected from nails/screws or in earthed metallic conduit/cable. (So twin and earth installed in the usual ways in a house need to be on RCD).
You don't want all the circuits on one RCD though.
