Parents had a conservatory that was falling apart, leaking a bit of a mess.
My brother had it re-built it 2 years ago, it has a tiled roof and the walls aren’t fully glazed
One of the curtain twitching neighbours has reported it to the council we got the letter 2 months ago, we thought it didn’t need building control as it was a conservatory.
Had building regs come out, waiting for their email, he said we might have to knock the whole thing down??
Had the inspector out a month ago and he said it probably didn’t need regularising so stumped why we’ve been told it now might need knocking down
issues he said verbally:
-dig down so can check foundations
-the ceiling plaster boards needed to be insulated, we have roof insulation but he says it’s not thick enough just looking through the light sockets
-something about drainage round the back but my brother seemed to think it would be easy sort
We’re awaiting the formal email but was surprised when building control turned around said that it might need taking down, considering the issues he raised verbally seem to be solvable?
The neighbour who complained is a nasty piece of work who works for the council, could there be some underhand business going on?
