Hi all,
I have a Vaillant boiler sealed system which recently has been needing re-filling daily, to allow the CH to work. Hot water for shower etc. has been fine throughout.
A member here has kindly suggested a 'dead expansion vessel' as the problem and a quick internet search has found the following quote (from an experienced plumber presumably):
"I've only had to change 3 vessels (due to valves leaking), & not being burst /ruptured, in my last 6000 service calls, over the last three years. ITS ALMOST ALWAYS ONLY THE VESSEL NEEDING EMPTYING, THEN PRECISELY BEING PUMPED UP TO THE CORRECT PRESSURE" (his capital letters).
Any thoughts on this? An idea how easy / difficult this is? Likely cost?
many thanks, Pendennis

Its easy for me, but I'm a heating engineer. It would be pretty difficult for someone who is wheelchair bound, even more so if fitted in the loft.
Everyone has diferent abilities so to say easy, medium, hard is guesswork.

Ok, fair point. :) I'll re-state the question: How much is a fair price for this service? And it's not in the loft, it's in a cupboard

Just to pump up the vessel would usually be the engineers minimum price, 90 odd pounds seems a normalish fee.
