Hello, i am looking to fix my terraced outhouse roof, by replacing the slates. I have a question: since my roof connects to my neighbour on one side , what is the best way to go about it.

i have 2 options,
1) install a secret gutter under their slates - but i am worried this may look messy and cause problems later for both of us

2) try and continue the slate gauge of their batons across my roof. Will it be difficult to lace the old slates up with the new slates?

My question is which is better and why, thanks

Why are you changing your slate?

A photo showing the state of the roof would help?

Presuming that you now have same slate same gauge across a single shed roof shared by you both?

Option 1 would not be a slaters option
More likely an uneducated general builders option.
