Afternoon everyone

So, I have been wondering about painting an want to get enter at finishing on wood. Been creating some shelves so have used the following:

Dulux wood primer (milky cream colour)
Dulux multi-purpose undercoat (bluey colour)
Johnsons non drop white gloss

Thing is, I'm not sure the Dulux undercoat is any good. It's oil based an takes an age to dry and often peels slightly off so can't be sanded. So my question:

What primer for everyone use/recommend?

What undercoats do people use/recommend?

And what 'finish paints' do people use and recommend?

If not to cheeky, would love to know particulars for different applications: Cabinets/shelving, furniture, skirts and banisters Etc.

Thanks everyone
