Reform Policies

You keep getting taken in BBC stories about some Reform council running out of paperclips, oh the humanity.

They're utterly desperate to find any cracks, however tiny. Sadly some muppets actually believe their nonsense.

Why the new-found interest in rubbishing "non-stories"?

Coz it's now your beloved Deform getting a kicking? ;-)

By a collection of people. Not usually by an individual. It's out of reach of most people's ability.

We all contribute, and use
We don't all contribute and use.

Some contribute and some don't. It wasn't that long ago that we had more people paying in more than they took out, now we have more taking out more than they put in.

Everyone needs to aspire to pay more than they use. We cannot have a system where a small number of people pay for most of it and are asked to pay more and more every year. They will simply go elsewhere.

Just take the tax return of the senator posted earlier. She must have the least efficient tax affairs of any American making close to $1M a year and yet her nominal rate is 1/3rd lower than mine and she makes twice as much.

We don't all contribute and use.

Right now: just become old and/or ill.
(Awaits the "my pension and assets mean I'll be sound" speech).

People living longer in retirement and drawing state pension, not to mention greater healthcare needs, is a major factor.

They will simply go elsewhere.

You keep threatening this, but you don't.

Oh look; the same hollow threats, just on the other side of the pond (y)

Easy soundbite, and I would bet that most do until they get older and start becoming a net beneficiary.

We're not 'Murca - thank God - and I wonder how much her healthcare insurance would be, per month, if she was a private individual.

You don’t start becoming a net beneficiary if you’ve paid in more during your life than you take out.

Nobody should expect others to fund their retirement.

Awaits the “I’ve paid in all my life, I’m entitled..”

The boomers promised themselves more than most of them would ever contribute, put less than nothing aside by spending all the tax, so have contractually obliged the next two generations into looking after them, and many more generations to be shackled with the debts that have been run up. The North Sea oil windfall was blown on tax cuts, any assets of any value were flogged off and now we're having to deal with the consequences.

Their parents had tough lives, fought the war then lived in poverty.

The luckiest generation ever, nobody else has or will have taken so much for doing so little. If anyone merely mentions not raising their incomes by more than inflation then the mouth-frothing begins. I've been listening to some droning on about how they're paying more income tax - but only because their state pension's gone up so much. Meanwhile I get a 0% rise and clobbered by the NI employers rise.

We need an honest review of pensions and benefits, it's all utterly unsustainable.

ALL the reform stories you've slapped together are trivial nonsense
No, they are not trivial

These Reform councillors are inexperienced, incompetent and are failing badly.

Perhaps one difference is that Reform actually resolves them, quickly,
Are you having a laugh?

Reform council leaders are so hopeless they cancelled loads of meetings and literally nothing got done week after week.

a proper government will be along in a few years,
So you don’t think Reform will win then…..because they would be nothing like a proper governent

Do you think Keir Starmer will win the next election?

That’s fine provided every body gets decent opportunity in life….but there’s no equal opportunity.

But in this country you get rich if you go to private school and network…..the good old boys network.

Oh and yeah you can pay in more if people got paid decent wages.

I went to state school. I still keep in touch with some I went to school with. Our fortunes are based on the choices we made.

Do you think Keir Starmer will win the next election?
No, but Labour would do a better job that Reform

Reform would be utterly utterly utterly sh1t for 99.9% of British citizens.

Reform are just lying right populists who would have a govt run on bulls hit.

What Farage would do is slash taxes like corporation tax, taxes for non doms, taxes for wealthy he would run the economy hot, grow gdp. It would look good in the short term and then he would cut n run blaming it on others.

In case you didn’t know gdp growth is not a good metric of a good standard of living for ordinary citizens

But you’ve already said Reform won’t do that.

If you start rich it’s easy to become rich

If you start in poverty it can often be impossible to become rich

I’ve had clients all around the Sussex / Surrey / Kent borders, people with mansions, farms, large listed buildings. I know exactly how the Old Boys network works. Less than 1% of them came from no money

Reform party is made up of public school boys….privilege

People from poor backgrounds don’t get multi million pound deals from Tory governments, it’s rich people who can bribe their way into govt contracts.

Private schools provide a better education. They teach more, better. I didn't go to one but wish I had. I'd rather politicians are more rather than less educated.

Starmer's also from a private school.

You sound bitter, like you want everyone to be an uneducated failure in life.

My grandad was a policeman my other grandad a railway worker, my dad studied hard and worked hard to gain professional qualifications. I did the same.

If you blame others you’ll never succeed
