Hello,

I have replaced the PRV in my Remeha Avanta 28c last week and noticed a slight drop in pressure despite the PRV being new. The heating circuit and radiators are watertight having been tested.
I placed a receptacle under the exterior pipe on the outside wall and it has collected about half a cup of water over 48 hours. Clearly the issue still is with the PRV - any thoughts ?

Thank you

Why did you replace the prv? Did you charge the expansion vessel and check the communication pipe?

Hello and thanks for the reply, I changed it as the boiler had been sitting unused for several months and when last used the dripping was occuring. When I took the old one off it was totally crudded up so seemed like the correct approach. I topped up the expansion vessel to 1 bar and 24 hours later it was still holding pressure. The condensate pipe is clear.

I will check the pressure again on Friday when Im back at the house and see - maybe it tell a different story by then.

correct a bicycle foot pump
And you left a drain point open whilst pumping it back up? If no, the you haven’t done the expansion vessel correctly. If yes, then either failed expansion vessel, connection or prv letting by.

I did, so it points towards the expansion vessel then. I guess its not unheard of that a new PRV can fail but highly improbable... Ill be back on friday and pick up where I left off. Thank you very much for you time and thoughts thus far

Hi Stuckinarut, you were correct - the expansion vessel isnt holding pressure. I left the guage attached for a good 30 mins and it was at zero. Ill get a new vessel and see what next to rule out ...
