Removal of paint from beams?

I have just bought a house which has strange beams running across the property in the attic bedroom. Obviously they can't be removed so I want to strip them back so they match the ceiling beams but they appear to have lots of layers of paint on.

Is there a product to remove the paint without damaging the beams?

Any help appreciated thanks :)
