removing cement from quarry tiles

I've just moved into a Victorian house which has fantastic red quarry tiles in the dining room, but there are patches of cement on them, and also some sort of heavy duty glue/sticky stuff.

What can I use to get rid of these?

See this and for glue you can buy glue remover such as Evo-stik cleaner adhesive
