You purchase a new pair of jeans. You take the "size, etc." labels off. The glue stays on the jeans. How do you get this off?

You could try putting Duct Tape over the sticky bit, rubbing it on really firmly and then pulling it off - it should pull off the sticky stuff as well.

Apparently peanut butter works a treat, but I don't know if that would leave a greasy mark - though the tips thing I read said to soak the area with washing up liquid after using the peanut butter.

I'd go with the duct tape first...........

Try rubbing over with a rag soaked in methylated spirit. Check It wont take the colour first though :!:

or what you call rubbing alcohol.

I sometimes get sticky residue from labels off, by mixing alcohol and dishwashing liquid (not the stuff you put in machines). the alcohol dissolves the glue and it mixes into the detergent which easily washes away. If you just use alcohol it evaporates and leaves the glue behind.

but have not needed to try it on clothes.

as usual, try it on a concealed part first to see if it leaves a mark.

Another thing you could try is leave the label where it is covering the sticky glue.

lotanrv - lighter fluid (petrol type not gas type) will remove the adhesive residue from all surfaces, including denim.
